Well so much for joining the dev-meet in Paris...
On arriving here in France yesterday morning, I'd been awake for about 18 hours, only to find we couldn't check into our hotel until the afternoon, a hurried lunch left us just enough time to get to the centre where the ESA conference is being held, (well, that and the ill advised decision, that we could perhaps walk along long champs) and after queing for too long to get registered and then looking around one floor of the exhibits (which was fun, playing around with medical gizmo's that would have been seriously useful during our trip to Africa) I headed to the hotel a little after three, intending on a quick nap, and then off to the meccano bar for the dev meet...
That nap turned into a full on sleep, disturbed only when my GF returned from the conference many hours later, surprised to find me sprawled across the bed and drooling onto the pillow, by then it was after seven pm, and fairly obvious that I wasn't going anywhere in a hurry!
I'm disappointed that I never made it, and hope that all who attended had a groovy time, ho hum... I'm sure it won't be the only chance I have to attend such an event, but at least it meant that I was well rested enough to get on with writing the story to go along with my mysterious islands project today.
Things are going well, all the character descriptions are written up, the synopsis planned out (I'm not a writer that does well without a synopsis) so ! hope now to be writing up the first few chapters during this trip, and get home ready to paint up the concept work for the characters).
so things could be a lot worse... and of course, I am in Paris! What a lovely city, I feel quite at home here
Thanks for dropping by!

Been a bit... busy
It's been a considerable chunk of time since I was last in these whereabouts. This has been due pretty much to working full time, and then trying to study full time on top of that.
this has had mixed success.
The net result is that I'm not starving to death, and I'm gradually getting better at game art. I'm also not getting much sleep and I would say that by most standards, I have virtually no life. I don't have time for one. I had one once... but 'having a life' is over-rated anyway. (that's what I keep telling myself ;))
I'm still studying game art, and I've been doing a lot more 3D than 2D. (as that is a bit of a departure from most of
Stuff... and my current project
So, I've been back for a couple of weeks (ish) and it's so cool to see that so many of the people I communicated with most frequently are still around, and still bashing out art. It's better still to see the level of improvement just about everyone has made. I doff my cap!
I'll admit that I haven't caught up with going through everyone's galleries yet, that will take an age. It's a pity I've been rushed off of my feet with various courses and other bits and pieces to take the time out for a comment fest :) but I'll get there.
The Games/art course seems to be going well, It's still early days, and my hardware is still going to limit what I c
I'm Back...(again)
so... I've been away for year and nine days apparently.
Best do some art :)
Recently enrolled on a games art course, so there's a good chance I'll be moving towards quite a bit more 3D art.
Thanks to all who wondered where I got to.
nowhere special ;)
Raise a Glass to Mr. Banks
Yesterday afternoon I was deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Iain Banks, My favourite author.
As is always the case, when one gets a bit older, your heroes start to die off, but Iain was taken off at the pointlessly young age of 59, a victim of gall bladder cancer.
Iain Banks had a great career in writing, a career that spanned Genres, finding success writing both contemporary literature and Science Fiction (ok... high end space opera might be more accurate)
It's the science Fiction for which I'll remember him most, I don't recall how long ago it was that I first picked up a copy of 'Consider Phlebas' but I can tell you I was hooked
